If we are to solve the challenges of tomorrow, we need to see the opportunities that lie in front of us today. It was truly an awakening to discover the possibilities that lie in Spinnova’s groundbreaking material technology, which is the basis of this innovation.
05.D/Material innovations.
We are continuously testing new material constructions and material blends to optimize the performance and ensure the recyclability of the finished fabric. This iteration of the anorak is made with Spinnova/Organic Cotton. It is strong and carries the wax beautifully.
Again, we have used Halley Stevensons’ newest innovation - EverWax Olive on this garment. This exciting new development offers good overall weather performance, similar to traditional paraffin waxes, however uses all-natural plant-based waxes and oils consisting of a blend of olive oil, rapeseed and castor bean.
Olive oil and wax are non GMO and are natural by-products from the food industry. We use the low-grade triglycerides which is waste steam from manufacturing virgin olive oil. Grown in northern Europe, rapeseed is chosen for this blend for its carbon footprint and non GMO properties. Castor beans originate from India. It is a resilient crop, pest resistant, tolerant to drought and suitable for marginal land cultivation. Once the oil has been removed, the by-products can be used for various products.
All components are biodegradable and considered vegan friendly. Additionally, the fabric can be re-proofed, extending the lifespan of items made from it.
When launching the Bergans.futurelabs.anorak in a color called Wake Up Orange our message is clear; go explore, seek possibilities, dare to innovate!
A new way of doing things
We are proud to announce that we have brought artist Danny Larsen with us on this launch. Danny is a former professional snowboarder and passionate about sustainability and circularity.
– I love nature and do everything I can to ensure that my consumption affects mother earth in the smallest way possible. What I like about the The Collection Of Tomorrow is that it uncompromisingly strives to solve one of the biggest challenges of our time, which is how can we reduce our consumption of resources. It represents a totally new way of thinking, says Danny.
This fall, everyone who buys the anorak in the new color will receive a signed print with a Danny Larsen artwork with it.
His hope is that this collaboration can show people that the future is full of opportunities. That new technology in combination with a different mindset, can make the whole difference.
– When we see how the climate is screaming for a change, there is no doubt that we need a new way of doing things. We need to wake up!
